Given an hour off from his job as a cafe waiter, Charlie rescues Mabel from a thug, is given an invitation to her home, and arrives presenting a card which falsely identifies him as the Greek Ambassador.
카페 웨이터 일에서 1시간 휴식시간을 얻은 찰리는 깡패들로부터 메이블을 구하고 그녀 집에 초대 받아 갔다가 그를 그리스 대사로 잘못 알려주는 명함을 내밀게 된다.
Before he can get back to work, her parents invite him to a future garden party.
일로 다시 복귀할 수 있게 되기 전에 그녀의 부모는 다음에 있을 가든파티에 그를 초대한다.
Her jealous lover has Charlie followed back to the cafe. 그녀의 질투많은 연인은 카페까지 찰리를 미행한다.
Charlie is a hit at the garden party but, as he leaves to return to work, the rival invites everyone to go with him to the cafe so Charlie will be exposed.찰리는 가든파티에서 일하러 돌아가기 위해 떠나려다 마주치지만 라이벌(메이블의 연인)은 찰리의 신분이 드러나게 그와 함께 모두를 카페로 가자고 초대한다.

Caught in a Cabaret is a short film from 1914 starring Charlie Chaplin and the film's writer/director Mabel Normand. 찰리 채플린과 영화의 작가/감독인 메이블 노르망드가 열연한 1914년작 단편영화이다.
Chaplin plays a waiter who fakes being a Greek Ambassador to impress a girl.
찰리는 아가씨에게 깊은 인상을 주기 위해 거짓으로 그리스 대사라 속인 웨이터를 열연한다.
He then is invited to a garden party where he gets in trouble with the girl's jealous boyfriend.
곧, 그는 아가씨의 질투 많은 남친에 의해 곤경에 처하게 되는 가든 파티에 초대된다.
Mabel Normand wrote and directed comedies before Chaplin and mentored her young co-star.
메이블 노르망드가 채플린 이전부터 코미디의 극본을 쓰고 감독했으며 젊은 동료 배우인 채플린을 응원했다.

"This watch don't go - but you will if you ain't back on time."
이 시계는 멈췄지만 당신이 정각에 돌아오지 않으면 시간은 계속 갈거야.(반드시 제시간에 돌아오란 소리)
"You must have a lot on your mind." 당신은 마음속에 많은 것을 갖고 있을 거예요.

"Any orders for the groom?" 신랑에게 하실 무슨 요구라도? 
"Yes, tell him to mix me a 'Horse' Neck'"

"Take that delicatessen away from here." (자꾸 주변을 왔다갔다 하는 강아지를 보고) 여기서 그놈을 치워요!
"You scoundrel, I wish I was that boy's father."  나쁜놈 같으니라구, 차라리 저 소년의 아버지였으면 좋겠구나.
"Well, why don't you talk it over with his mother?" 그럼, 애 엄마와 얘기해 보지 그래요?

"How brave you are to fight that gunman." 저런 총잡이와 싸우다니 참 용감하시군요!
"There's my house, won't you come over for a tete-a-tete?" 저기 우리 집인데 차茶라도 한잔 하시죠. 
"Yes, if you have any on the ice." 그러죠, 얼음 띄운 뭐라도 있으면...
"Allow me...my card." 자, 여기 제 명함...O.T.AXLE Ambassador for Greece
"Are you here on a vacation?" 여기는 휴가차 오신건가요?
"Yes,I've been doing a little salmon fishing, but it is so much trouble opening the cans..."
예, 연어낚시를 조금 했는데 시작하는데 문제가 좀 있더군요.

"Fancy, real Ambassador...they must have named all the hotels after him."
생각해봐, 대사라니...그의 이름을 따라 모든 호텔의 이름을 지었을거야....
"You must come to our daughter's coming-out party." 우리딸의 사교계 데뷔 파티에 꼭 오세요.

Running like the duece for the tray. 아주 빨리 달려...(웨이터로서의 일터로 복귀)
"If you like singing - get into the kitchen and listen to the kettle , it's got a better range."
노래하고 싶으면 주방에 들어가서 주전자 끓는 소리나 들어. 그게 더 듣기 좋잖아.
"The boss wants you to taste a pigs' knuckle." 주인이 돼지 무릎뼈 요리 맛보래~
"Out !!!" 나가! (식탁에 발 올리고 있는 험상궂은 손님에게 갑자기 소리치고 한대 맞음)
"My mistake Sir,any orders?" 제 실수로군요, 손님, 무슨 주문이라도?
 "Bring me a hard cider." 독한 소다수 한잔!
(소다수를 마시는 손님을 둔기로 내리쳐 기절시키고 내쫓자 여인들이 모두 그를 칭찬함)
"As a bouncer you're as good as a sissy."

A June garden redolent with the perfume of roses and home brew.
장미향기와 집에서 담근 술 냄새가 나는 6월의 정원.
"The Ambassador is late." 대사님이 늦는군.
"I'm sorry, I'm late. My Rolls-Royce broke down." 늦어서 미안하군요. 차가 고장나서...
"Must be Pinaud's , goes to the head."
(찰리와 메이블은 나란히 앉아 사랑을 속삭이는데 메이블의 연인이 다가와서..)
"Your mother wants you to show the guests your trousseau." 어머니가 손님들에게 네 혼수를 보여주길 원하셔.
찰리- "How dare you suggest such a thing!" 어떻게 감히 그런 얘길 할 수 있소!
(웨이터가 가져온 술을 혼자 마신 찰리는 술에 취해 딸꾹질을 해대며 메이블과 함께 노래한다)

"I was all right till the moths got at me." 그 벌레 같은 놈이 나에게 대들기 전까지는 괜찮았어.(주인 생각.)

"Two into one leaves nothing." (찰리가 메이블에게 속삭이자 메이블이 웃음)
"I'll give him more spirit than you've got behind the bar."
(술에 취한 찰리는 파티장을 빠져 나오고 메이블이 배웅한다.)
"Nothing but the affairs of Greece could take me from you tonight."
오직 그리스와 관련된 일만이 오늘밤 당신에게서 나를 떼어놓을 수 있을 것이오.
"Isn't he wonderful, so full of swagger and stagger." 허풍치고 술에 취해 비틀거려도 그는 참 멋져~ (메이블 생각)
Count Doubleboss invited Mabel and her guests to go on a slumming party with him.
더블보스 백작은 메이블과 그녀의 손님들을 (호기심에 찾아가 보는) 빈민가 파티로 초대한다.

(여전히 술에 취한 찰리가 주방에 있을 때 메이블 일행이 들이닥친다.)
The Spearmint Movement, Very Wrigley... 느림보야, 빨리 움직여.(주방에서 주인이 찰리에게 하는 말)
(음식을 갖고 홀로 나간 찰리는 메이블을 알아보고 놀라)
"The Ambassador's Ball comes off tonight and I'm going disguised as a waiter."
대사의 무도회가 오늘밤 열리는데 나는 웨이터로 변장하는 것이라오. (메이블에게 찰리가 하는 거짓말)
(메이블과 즐겁게 노닥거리며 앉아 있는 찰리에게 주인이 다가와서)
"He's just a Barrel of Wind and Tank of Air." 그는 허풍선이일 뿐이요!
(신분이 탄로난 찰리는 주인과 한바탕 싸움을 벌인 후 메이블에게 가서 말한다)
"I may be only a waiter , but remember Bismarck was only a herring..."
나는 웨이터에 지나지 않소. 하지만 비스마르크도 청어....(라고 말하다 메이블에게 뺨 한대 맞고 쓰러졌다 일어남)
"Don't you know enough to stay down?" 가만히 자빠져 있지 못해요!
(찰리는 다시 그렇게 떠돌이로서 길을 간다)
